Prenatal massage is only offered after the first trimester and shares all of the goals of a regular massage session but is tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women. Due to the changes in a woman’s body, prenatal massage is done in a very supportive side-lying position to address the posterior body, and in a supported reclined position to address the front of the body. These positions are safe and comfortable for the mother all throughout her pregnancy.
Prenatal massage is a healthy way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness. It relieves many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches and edema (or swelling). In addition, massage for pregnant women reduces stress on weight-bearing joints, encourages blood and lymph circulation, helps to relax nervous tension, which aids in better sleep, and can help relieve depression or anxiety caused by hormonal changes.
I use a gentle, loving touch to relieve stress, eliminate anxiety, improve blood flow, and create a healthier state for you and your baby. Book an appointment with me!
